The Schlumberger Aachen Technology Center (AaTC) is the leading provider of software and services for Petroleum Systems Modeling, also described as Basin Modeling or Basin Modelling. We offer the most complete and technically advanced technology with an extensive range of unique features: the PetroMod® system.
The principle geologic risk factors in oil and gas exploration are commonly defined as the trap (consisting of trap geometry, reservoir and seal), the oil and gas charge, and the timing relationship between the charge and the potential traps. These risk factors apply to basin, play or prospect scale assessments.
Petroleum Systems Modeling (PSM), also called “charge modeling”, is a vital component of exploration risk assessment and is applicable during all stages of exploration, from frontier basins with no well control to well-explored areas. The 3D Petroleum Systems Model includes all of the key elements of geological risk in exploration (the Charge, the Trap, and the Timing of hydrocarbon generation, migration, and loss) and therefore enables rigorous risk analyses.
PetroMod® combines seismic information, well data, and geological knowledge to model the evolution of a sedimentary basin. PetroMod software will predict if, and how, a reservoir has been charged with hydrocarbons, including the source and timing of hydrocarbon generation, migration routes, quantities, and hydrocarbon type in the subsurface or at surface conditions.
Our goal is to provide the most advanced Petroleum Systems Modeling technology and services to help our clients identify and quantify risks and prospective resources in petroleum exploration.
